甘蔗梢尖由于较脆易断,而且蔗梢糖分含量低,影响出粮率。长期以来,一直被人们视为“废物”而丢弃。如果采用梢尖留种,既可节约用种(每667平方米可节省用种400公斤),又可提高原料蔗的质量和糖分。近两年来,我场梢尖留种面积逐年增加,仅1994年全场梢尖留种总面积达54公顷,平均每667平方米产量在5.5吨以上,比全茎留种增加1吨以上。而且采用梢尖留种后的原料蔗糖分可达15.34%,比全茎原料蔗糖分提高1.45个百分点。采用蔗梢留种,应掌握好如下几点:
