On January 12, 1932, on the pretext that the local “Republican Daily Newspaper” published a message that degraded the Japanese Emperor, the Japanese in Qingdao repeatedly destroyed the newspapers and the Qingdao City Party Branch of the Kuomintang, which led to a sudden tension on the ground. The purpose of the Japanese insurrection was not to lose control of the momentary mood of the moment, but to disturb not only the anti-Japanese and nation-saving movement of China but also an excuse to send troops to the Japanese army. However, the riots have not won the Japanese government’s support. With the urgent negotiation between China and Japan, the riots quickly calmed down and did not evolve into an armed conflict. The occurrence and handling of the riots caused some interference with the formulation of the policy toward Japan by the Kuomintang government on the eve of the “January 28 Incident”, and indirectly but effectively matched the actions of the Japanese troops in Shanghai.
