惩治腐败是一项长期而艰巨的任务。查办案件是惩治腐败必不可少的措施。其作用突出表现在：１、纯洁党的组织，维持党的纪律。２、震慑违法犯罪分子，遏制腐败现象和不正之风的蔓延。３、挽救犯错误干部，教育广大群众。４、增强群众反腐败的信心，激励群众反腐败的热情。当前，查办案件最突出的问题在于“总的表现是手软”。其后果一是会毁掉一批干部；二是逆向示范社会，造成负面影响；三是影响政治稳定，导致人民群众对党和政府失去信赖。解决这一问题必须提高认识，态度坚决；查办案件要雷厉风行：有点气势；要做到有纪必依，坚持从严；查办案件要突出重点，抓领导干部及其子女，抓名人和执法执纪人员；要提高工作“透明度”．接受群众和社会的监督。同时，还要完善党政纪法规，进一步发挥制度的效力。
Punishing corruption is a long-term and arduous task. Investigating and handling cases is an indispensable measure to punish corruption. To solve this problem, we must be more aware and resolute in our attitude. We must be vigorous and resolute in investigating and handling cases: a little imposing; we must do our best to insist on discipline and strict discipline. We should focus our efforts on leading cadres and their children, grasping celebrities and law enforcement Personnel; to improve the work of “transparency.” Accept the supervision of the masses and society. At the same time, we must improve the rules and regulations of the party and government, and further exert the effectiveness of the system.
