20世纪很快就要终结,在本世纪最后不足100天的时间中,美术界搁下冲动,开始尝试接受一种冷静的和客观的情绪。对需要回顾和总结的中国当代艺术而言,这种通过距离,尽量减少偏见的情绪非常必要,也是恰当的。事实上,与中国改革开放的历史同步,中国现代艺术20年,也是一波三折,明暗交迭。现在回想起来,从本世纪上半叶肇始,中国当代艺术的最后阶段,或许也是最具成就的时期,大概就是’79至’99本世纪这最后20年了。因此唯有这20年,能够承载这样的重任,回顾和总结一个行将逝去的旧世纪,瞻望和开启一个迅将奔来的新世纪。基于这种考量,新近成立的设于成都国际会展中心的成都现代艺术馆,在经过精心酝酿后,决定为这20年策划一次盛展,为这段历史做一次尝试性的全面交代,并将这次总结性的人展纳入学术主持人制度这一国际惯例。考虑到展览的重要性和历史含量,展览被正式命名为“世纪之门:1979—1999中国艺术邀请展”。该展览由成都市人民政府主办,成都国际会议中心成都现代艺术馆承办。遵循国际惯例,由学术主持人组成学术委员会,按艺术类别分别上持学术策划工作。
The twentieth century will soon come to an end. By the end of the century less than 100 days, the fine arts world has set aside its impulse to begin experimenting with a calm and objective mood. For Chinese contemporary art that needs to be reviewed and summarized, it is necessary and appropriate to minimize this prejudice bias through distance. In fact, in keeping with the history of China’s reform and opening up, China’s modern art has seen twists and turns in 20 years and twists and turns. In retrospect, from the beginning of the first half of this century, the final phase of Chinese contemporary art, perhaps the most accomplished period, is probably the last two decades of the ’79 to ’99 century. Therefore, only in these 20 years can we shoulder such an important task of reviewing and summing up an old century that is about to pass away, looking forward to and starting a new century that will soon be coming. Based on this consideration, the newly established Chengdu Museum of Modern Art in Chengdu International Convention and Exhibition Center, after careful deliberation, decided to plan a grand exhibition for these two decades, giving a tentative and full account of this history and will This concluding exhibition is an international practice incorporating the academic moderator system. Taking into account the importance and historical content of the exhibition, the exhibition was officially named “The Gate of the Century: Chinese Art Invitational Exhibition 1979-1999”. The exhibition is hosted by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government and undertaken by Chengdu Modern Art Museum of Chengdu International Convention Center. Follow the international conventions, academic committee composed of academic hosts, respectively, according to the art category on the academic planning.
