重庆市万州第二中学是原四川省首批办好的重点中学,在高考中获万州区“五连冠”,每年为高等学校输送了大量人才,作为重点中学担负起培养跨世纪高层次人才的桥梁作用。万丈高楼由地起,学校领导高瞻远瞩,结合国家教育部指示:“针对不同的学生实际情况,采用不同的教学手段和方法,从而达到不同的目的”。为了探索重点中学高层次人才的培养途径,学校决定选用初中高层次教材实验,并结合初中教学诱导教法实验,从1996年至1999年在初九九级的6个教学班积极开展探索培养学生数学能力,全面提高学生土质,减轻学生负担,提高课堂效益的重庆市级教学教材公法实验。
