Recently, I again examined the Japanese aluminum industry, which is quite different from the Japanese aluminum industry that was booming in 1978. At that time, the production capacity was 1.64 million tons, and 1.77 million tons of aluminum were produced in 1977. In addition, there were still about 1.2 million tons of aluminum production equipment remaining to be scrapped and sold in 1982. In 1982, the Japanese government envisioned a production plan of 700,000 tons. As the price of electricity was too high, only 300,000 tons of aluminum could be produced and a large number of aluminum plants went bankrupt. Currently the Japanese market, an aluminum 300,000 yen a ton, while the cost is as high as 500,000 yen. Five aluminum companies borrowed 900 billion yen in 1981 to pay 73 billion yen, making it even more difficult in 1982. Asahi Shimbun 1982 October 22 reported
