中美两国在基础教育和高等教育方面的教育经费来源及总量差异较大，研究数据表明中国存在教育投资来源少、总量不足、公民受教育负担高于美国的问题。因此，中国应借鉴美国多元化的教育投资来源渠道，增加基础教育部分的政府投入，鼓励高校开拓运营渠道，从而增加教育资金，减轻中国公民的教育负担。
