China now ranks first around the world in terms of the number of cinema screens after a constant rise from about 2，000 in the early 21st century to more than 60，000 today. The increase of cinema screens is driven by the booming film market in China. Now the country has become the world’s second-largest movie market， following North America.


　　Huge potential for development remains in China’s film industry. According to 2017 data， there were only 16 cinema screens per million people in China， while the number in the United States （ranking top in the world） was 125. Through exploring film markets in the second-， third- and fourth-tier cities， Chinese filmmakers are seeking more opportunities to vitalize film industry development.
