术前访视作为一种被病人基本认可的护理服务项目，在发达国家已经开展了近20年的时间，访视一般被安排在病人住进外科病房等待手术期间进行的，使病人接受更多的个案护理的有关信息。术前访视的内容被记录在案，包括护理站电话号码、探视时间、每日工作程序、如何减轻疼痛的细节等，从而为病人提供一份完整的术前访视档案。
