夏夜总是那般迷人,令无数艺术家神往。英国文艺复兴时期的伟大剧作家、诗人莎士比亚,曾在青春时代创作了喜剧代表作《仲夏夜之梦》,描绘出一个神话王国。受之启发,德国著名音乐家门德尔松用一个个音符,将莎士比亚笔下的奇妙仙境演绎出来。这就是闻名遐迩的《仲夏夜之梦序曲》,浪漫主义时期的第一部标题性音乐会序曲。创作这部作品时,正值夏日,时年十七岁的门德尔松和妹妹芳妮在柏林郊外度假。此时的门德尔松,醉心于刚刚出版的莎士比亚戏剧德译本《莎士比亚的喜剧》。其中的《仲夏夜之梦》,给他留下了深刻的印象。
