Richard Wahlheim (1923-2003) devoted himself to the study of the interrelationship between art and psychoanalysis. He made a creative contribution in spirit and emotion, especially in relation to the art of visual painting. For example, he proposed “doubleness” in painting, “looking into”, and bystander theory, which are unprecedented in history. Among them, “duality ” point of view, refers to the spectator can not only visually aware of the surface of painting, but also aware of the content of the painting. He provided us with a theoretical account of the phenomenological distinction between painting.
