江苏有五千年的文明史,地上、地下文物相当丰富。江苏有许多名闻中外的古城堡、宫殿、碑刻、遗址、陵墓、园林。省内各博物馆收藏的文物很多,仅南京博物院就有藏品近四十万件。江苏众多的文物,就是一部异常生动、丰富的历史课本。南京博物院举办的《江苏历史陈列》,就是用大量文物、资料再现的江苏历史的缩影。五十年代,考古学家曾在泗洪寻觅到江苏最早居民的踪迹。近几年来,从苏北东海、连云港,到苏南溧水、丹徒等地,不断发现细石器,说明古代人类的足迹已遍布大江南北。在江苏历史陈列中,
