《长寿》杂志2007年第4期刊登的徐璐《运动或许能挽救生命》一文,介绍了英国一位名叫简·汤姆森的女士用运动与癌症搏斗的故事。汤姆森1990年被诊断出乳腺癌,随后做了双乳切除术,并作了两轮放疗和化疗。待2000年后复查癌症已到晚期,癌细胞扩散至骨骼里,医生认为她活不过6个月。从那以后,她连续6年参加长跑,截至2006年底,她共参加了一连串的马拉松、三项全能比赛、骑自行车远征活动,还用9周时间骑行6700公里横穿美国。她与疾病顽强斗争着,最后她成功了,至今还坚强地活着。她的事迹传遍了英国,她被评为“2006年度风云女性”。
Xu Wei’s article “Sports May Save Your Life” published in the 4th issue of Longevity magazine introduced the story of a woman named Jane Thomson in the United Kingdom who used sports to fight cancer. Thomson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990, followed by double breast mastectomy and two rounds of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. After the review of the cancer in late 2000, cancer cells have spread to the skeleton. The doctor thinks that she has lived for six months. Since then, she has participated in long-distance running for 6 consecutive years. By the end of 2006, she had participated in a series of marathons, triathlons, and bicycling expeditions. She also spent 6 weeks riding 6700 kilometers across the United States. She struggled with the disease and finally she succeeded. She still lives strong. Her stories spread throughout the United Kingdom and she was named “2006 Women of the Year.”
