盛暑,岳阳城里赤日炎炎,而云山脚下的铁山水库,依然清风徐徐,天高气爽。这里没有喧嚣,没有污染,是消暑的好去处。我们一行数人,绕过一片建筑群.穿过几道山涧,绿色的大坝便展示在眼前,宛如铁壁铜墙,锁住喧泄的河口。铁山水库大坝全长206.5米、高44.5米、顶宽了米,是全国比较典型的粘土斜墙砂壳坝。由于坝址选择得好,设计合理,质量安全可靠,1984年被评为全国优秀设计项目,1985年又获水电部勘测施工一等奖。
