(a) The groundwater flow in the groundwater rock mass and the state of the groundwater surface depends on the water source, the topography of the area, the geological and structural characteristics of the rock mass, and the water permeability. The amount of groundwater is governed by factors such as rainfall, topography, surface drainage, vegetation, soil and geology, water permeability, and recent meteorological conditions. Groundwater can travel a great distance through the rock mass.
