管窥传播研究的第三视野——再读“媒介即讯息”

媒介环境研究的重要意义已经被认可。但是,对“媒介即讯息”这一媒介环境学经典观点的误读依然存在。“媒介即讯息”意在说明,媒介/技术除了本身具有实用意义,还会产生其它意义。这些意义并不一定为其发明者和使用者所察觉,但却真切地改变了人们思想和行为的方式。“媒介即讯息”是媒介环境学的基石,它提出了思考媒介的环境视角,促使我们思考媒介技术、传播方式对人思想和行为的改变,以及对社会的影响。 The importance of media environment research has been recognized. However, there is still a misunderstanding of the classic “media as message” media perspective. “Media is the message ” is intended to show that media / technology has its own meaning in addition to its own practical significance. These meanings are not necessarily what their inventors and users perceive, but they have really changed the way people think and act. “Media is information ” is the cornerstone of media environmental science. It puts forward the environmental perspective of thinking about media, prompting us to think about the changes of media technology and mode of transmission to people’s thoughts and behaviors and their impact on society.
