从功能角度分析英语教学中释义(paraphrase)的不足之处。从形式主义的角度来看,这种方法有很多所谓的优势。但是,如果我们将语言中的功能方面也考虑进来的话,就会发现那些所谓的优点正是这一教学法的致命的弱点所在。传统的教学法要求学生首先掌握各种语言结构形式,然后再将它们应用到实际交际中。系统功能语言学将语言视为一个可供人们根据不同的语境选择适当表达形式的“意义潜势”系统。它认为学习者首先应该学会如何用语言进行交际,然后在交际过程中学习语言的结构形式。着力从系统功能语言学的语域理论对释义这一教学法作出了一系列的探讨。
An Analysis of the Deficiencies of Paraphrase in English Teaching from a Functional Perspective. From a formalist point of view, this method has many so-called advantages. However, if we consider the functional aspects of language as well, we will find that the so-called merit is exactly the fatal weakness of this pedagogical approach. The traditional pedagogy requires students to first grasp the various language structure, and then apply them to the actual communication. Systemic functional linguistics regards language as a system of “meaning potentials” where people can choose appropriate expressions according to different contexts. It believes that learners should first learn how to use the language of communication, and then learn the structure of the language in the communication process. Efforts from the system of functional linguistics domain theory of interpretation of this teaching method made a series of discussions.
