An international team of researchers reported in a new issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences online that they found that some plant materials contain an acidic substance and have a bactericidal capacity about 10 times that of commonly used pesticides. Researchers said the future is expected to develop a new type of pesticide, thus reducing the environmental impact. Infection with pathogens can lead to a sharp reduction in crops, while long-term use of chemical pesticides can add to the burden on the environment and is not conducive to the sustainable production of soils.
