1946年美国物理学家Robert Wilson提出用质于线(Proton beam)治疗肿瘤。此后,许多高能物理学家纷纷设计用于治疗的加速器,应用结果令人满意。质子线治疗对身体深部病变可作选择性照射,而对周围正常组织的放射伤害极小。在过去的28年中,世界各地已对9719例不同疾病进行了质子线治疗。目前应用这一技术的国家有美国、苏联、日本、瑞典、法国。其主要应用于神经外科领域,取得了一定的疗效。
In 1946, American physicist Robert Wilson proposed treatment of tumors with Proton beam. Since then, many high-energy physicists have designed the accelerator for treatment, the results of the application is satisfactory. Proton therapy for deep body lesions can be selectively irradiated, while the surrounding normal tissue radiation damage is minimal. In the past 28 years, 9719 cases of different diseases have been treated with protons around the world. The current application of this technology in the United States, the Soviet Union, Japan, Sweden, France. It is mainly used in the field of neurosurgery and has achieved certain curative effect.
