American “Cost of Mine Services” magazine conducts an annual survey of coal, metal and industrial mineral mines throughout the United States. Data on wages, benefits and bonuses are part of the data that they plan to make widely available in order to monitor the costs that are crucial to the mining industry. It is reported that 60% of the mines that conducted labor inspections in their sixth year have seen an average salary increase of 3.4% over the past 12 months. Only one mine has experienced a drop in wages as a result of the introduction of a profit-sharing scheme. 39%
