位于并受制于扬子古陆和华夏古陆之间的赣东北蛇绿岩-深断裂-高压变质岩在时间、空间和成因演化上密切相关.高压变质岩中尤以硬玉石英钠长片岩、硬柱石硬玉钠长片岩、硬玉钠长片岩和蓝闪片岩最为重要.硬玉质岩石中的硬玉接近纯硬玉(Jd95-99).硬玉因与石英反应形成钠长石并被钠长石包围与石英隔开,以准稳定态得以保存下来,而被钠长石包围的硬柱石则保留由黝帘石+钙长石组成的假象.与硬玉伴生的矿物有硬柱石、蓝闪石、钠长石、石英、黝帘石、钙长石、钠云母、沸石.根据结构可分为4个大的矿物组合世代:(1)Pl-Am-Q,(2)Jd-Lw-Gl-Q,(3)Zo-An-Ah-Q,(4)Ab-Zeo-(-Ser-Ur).它们相应的年代跨度、温压条件分别是:1.0~0.93Ga,250℃,(2~3)×108 Pa;0.93~0.79Ga,300~350℃,(5~12)×10~8Pa;0.79~0.223 Ga,350~400~120℃.(1~5~3)×10~8Pa,在0.223Ga以后<120~50℃,<3×10~8Pa.可得一先近等温增压至45km,再近原径等温降压至5km,后近等压降温的顺时针P-T-t轨迹.
