研制背景由红外或电视搜索跟踪、激光测距和计算机控制的光电跟踪仪不仅具有抗电磁干扰能力强、成本低、体积小和重量轻等优点,而且能对低空、低仰角,甚至负仰角的低空、掠海飞行的导弹、飞机等目标进行昼夜探测和跟踪,国外海军已有数十种型号,中小型舰船早已使用,大型水面舰船也开始使用,甚至航空母舰也拟装这种光电跟踪仪。现在使用的舰用光电跟踪仪在结构上大同小异,一般由两部分组成:甲板上面,主要是光电跟踪头,包括装在跟踪头↓通常使用的非整体封闭式光电跟踪仪。
