In mid-October of this year, the U.S. Senate passed a motion allowing the Bush administration to sell two “鹗” class hunting miners “Orioles” and “Falcons” to Taiwan next year. U.S. military analysts predict that if mainland China attacks Taiwan, it is likely to deploy mines in the Taiwan Strait. The mines will keep U.S. troops in the open sea and prevent them from approaching Taiwan, adversely affecting the U.S. military in preventing Taiwan. Based on this consideration, the U.S. government has agreed to sell its mine-hunting boats to Taiwan. In the meantime, the Taiwan military has attached increasing importance to the operation of mines in recent years and has repeatedly invited technical advisory panels composed of retired officers from Japan to participate in the mines operating on the island codenamed “Kang Ping” and cites the United States’ Combat actual combat exercises.
