The aim of this study was to determine, for the first time, the net value and kinetics of human surfactant, dual-saturated lecithin (DSPC), using a novel, bistable isotope tracer method. Sixty healthy children without lung disease were enrolled as control group (birth weight: 3.4 ± 0.2 kg; gestational age: 39.8 ± 0.4 weeks) in 10 children with congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) 3.2 ± 0.3 kg; gestational age: 39.1 ± 1.1 weeks).
