On the morning of January 1, 2007, “Smile Wristbands” for Olympic volunteers were released officially. Every set of “Smile Wristbands” has five pieces, with each wristband bearing an Olympic color: red, representing “smile, obligation, and willingness to help others”; yellow, representing “smile, obligation, and the practice of civility and etiquette”; black, representing “smile, obligation, honesty, and credibility”; blue, representing “smile, obligation, and willingness to learn for the sake of progress”; and green, representing “smile, obligation, and participation in environmental protection.” The unveiling of the wristbands led to a new surge in volunteer registration.
By the end of October, the number of applicants for the Olympic and Paralympic volunteer programs had reached 700,000, among them 870 voluntarily served the Good Luck Beijing sport events and were confirmed as the first batch of Games-time volunteers.
2007年元月1日早上，奥运志愿者“微笑圈”正式发布。每套“微笑圈”均由5条腕带组成，每条承载一种奥运色彩：红色，代表“微笑、承诺、乐于助人”；黄色，代表“微笑、承诺、文明礼仪”；黑色，代表“微笑、承诺、诚实守信”；蓝色，代表“微笑、承诺、学习进取”；绿色，代表“微笑、承诺、保护环境”。腕带的揭晓引发了志愿者注册活动的新一轮浪潮。
到10月底，奥运会和残奥会志愿项目申请人数已经达到了70万，其中870名志愿者参与了“好运北京”体育赛事的志愿服务工作，他们被确认为第一批赛事间志愿者。
