陈端生撰写的弹词《再生缘》是一部神龙无尾之作。各种戏曲、评弹、小说与影视等改编本给《再生缘》安排的结局大致有“华丽缘”、“帝相缘”、“其他缘”、“三美团圆”等几种类型,总体上都是团圆结局。这种结局模式自郭沫若以来,尤其受到非议,但郭本人设想的悲剧结局恐怕也难以符合陈端生本意。《再生缘》的结局可谓一个难成定论的开放性的话题,甚至可以称作是弹词界的“歌德巴赫猜想之谜”。
