2004年2月7日,由中国歌剧舞剧院演出的音乐剧《花木兰》在北京蓝天剧场试演。举办方邀请了许多业内人士和媒体观看了这次非正式的演出。此后的一两个月中,北京和上海的媒体对音乐剧《花木兰》进行了热情的报道。另外也有一些评论家对该剧的各个方面进行了评论。其中有热情的赞扬,也有善意的批评。对于作曲家郝维亚及举办方而言,此次试演就是为了听取各方面的意见。在认真听取意见并进行必要修改的同时,作曲家本人也想就音乐剧《花木兰》的创作一些梳理。在该剧即取将修改完毕、正式公演之前,笔者作为作曲家的同学和朋友,与郝维亚进行了一次对话。下面是这次对话摘要。

Among them are warm compliments and good-faith criticisms. For the composer Hao Weya and organizers, the audition is to listen to all aspects of opinion.
