慈善义演主要是通过演艺筹集资金用于社会慈善活动。晚清上海地区的演戏筹赈是本土慈善义演的最早形式。京津地区的义演活动晚于上海,其起因源于1906年杭州惠兴女士殉身办学事件。在报纸媒体与京师梨园界的通力合作下,以惠兴的事迹排演的新戏《惠兴女士传》在京津地区接连上演,以演戏所得资助惠兴创办贞文女学堂。此次义务演剧还配合“国民捐运动”引发了许多演出筹捐活动。在多种因素的作用下,京津地区以义务戏为主要形式的义演活动在近代报刊等传播媒介的作用下,逐渐登上历史舞台,引领人们积极投身于社会慈善公益事业。 Charity performances mainly through the performing arts to raise funds for social charities. Relief in Shanghai in the late Qing Dynasty was the earliest form of local charity performance. The charity event in Beijing and Tianjin area was later than that in Shanghai. The cause originated from the martyrdom of Ms. Huixing Hangzhou in 1906. With the co-operation of the newspaper media and the Liyuan community in the capital, the new play “Hui-xing’s Biography” rehearsing in Huixing’s deeds has been staged one after another in the Beijing-Tianjin region and Fu Jen Catholic University was founded to finance the drama. The voluntary drama also with “national donation movement” caused a lot of performance fund-raising activities. Under the action of many kinds of factors, the acting activities in the form of voluntary play in Beijing and Tianjin gradually climbed onto the stage of history under the influence of the media such as the modern newspapers and periodicals, leading people to devote themselves actively to charity public welfare undertakings.
