Beijiang: Channel remediation effect put to waste? In recent years, the disorderly mining of sand in the lower reaches of the Beijiang continued to run rampant, the scale is still growing. In particular, from the Luba and Datang sections in Sanshui, Guangdong Province, the number of sand-mining vessels increased from about 30 at the end of 1998 to 41, among which there are grab-type and twist-suction types. When these ships see the sand, they block both the waterway and the water flow, change the original relatively stable waterway, endanger the safety of the Beijiang River waterway regulation facilities and are very unfavorable to the waterway. The face of more and more serious disorderly sand mining situation, Foshan Waterway Bureau Sanshui Branch from February 8, 2001 onwards conducted a special investigation.
