上海天主教会1849年设立的土山湾工艺学校是中国近代第一所全面传授西方美术工艺理念和技术的学校。作为最早开办的工艺学校,土山湾工艺学校的工艺和设计教育为中国培养出了第一批谙熟西方工艺设计理念和技艺的人才,也为洋务运动所掀起的中国近代设计的第一次高潮提供了人才和观念的准备。文章分析了土山湾工艺学校教育方式和人才培养模式,阐述了其对中国近代工艺和设计教育发展的重要意义。
The Tushanwan Technological School established by the Catholic Church in Shanghai in 1849 is the first modern school in China to fully impart western art and craft concepts and technologies.
