彭德怀,原名得华,1898年10月24日出生在湘潭县乌石峰下彭家围子的一个贫苦农民家庭。小时念过两年私塾,即因家贫而废学。为生活所迫,随祖母讨过米,做过煤窑的童工,饱受苦难与欺凌,但从小养成了倔强、反抗、刚直的性格。1913年,湘潭大旱,发生饥荒,他带头冲进地主家,打开粮仓救济饥民,而遭官府通缉。后逃到洞庭湖当堤工,沉重的担子压得他两肩宽阔而背微驼,性格更倔强而寡言。童年这段生活,在《彭德怀自述》里有过刻骨铭心的回忆。他说:“童少年时期这段贫困生活对我是有锻炼的,在以后的日子里,我常常回忆到幼年的遭遇,鞭
