In an era where open discussion of banned topics is possible, why is the relationship between money and art still and perhaps the last taboo topic? The answer dates back more than five centuries. Since the prices that artists put out to their patrons increased during the Italian Renaissance, they possessed new social status, but artists should not bind them openly about the money tradition. This Renaissance ideal continued into the modern era. With the development of the art market in the late 19th century, the price of art became a topic of public discussion among critics and the public. Pablo Picasso secretly used a wealth of business tactics to accumulate wealth, but he and other successful artists were cautious about taboos on money and remained silent on the market conditions of their work.
