黄文琦的心是清澈、单纯的,因为心中有画。中国画创作中,山水拓人胸襟,花鸟怡人性情,人物见人心性。几样中,人物画与时代贴得最紧,黄文琦便选择了人物画。这大约因为他是军人,对于时代和民众有一种天然的关怀。一位画者,执着于画艺,耽迷其中而不肯自拔者,并不少见。但这样的画家大抵会选择一种契合自己心境和艺术语言的题材,反复锤炼,直至驾轻就熟,有了自己的面貌。黄文琦却不是这样。他勤奋,但是不肯将笔墨与题材泥于一法一家。在人物画领域,他的笔触涉猎极广,古代的、今天的,城市的、乡村的,年轻的、年迈的……只要与“人”有关,他都关注。
