栽培稻由野生稻演化而来是稻作学者所公认的,由于野生稻的性状大都偏近籼稻,对籼稻起源于野生稻也没有争议,对粳稻的起源则有不同的看法.丁颖认为粳稻是由籼稻演化而来,周拾禄认为巢湖的粳型野稻是粳稻的先祖.Second根据同工酶研究,推定粳稻是由中国的野生稻演化来的.冈彦一与程侃声先后通过杂交试验,认为野生稻本身同时有直接分化为籼稻和粳稻的可能;王象坤等则进一步推测粳稻是野生稻在旱地上驯化的结果.冈彦一在其《栽培稻之起源》一书中对上述各种假设都有简要的叙述.籼稻和粳稻在地理分布上,虽然从低到高、由南至北,前者渐次减少而后者渐次增多,但这一过渡现象并不能确证粳 Oryza sativa is a type of cultivated rice which has been recognized by paddy scholars since its evolution from wild rice.
