鲁迅先生终其一生对自然科学,特别是生物科学的分支——动物学、植物学——有着浓厚的兴趣。不必说少年时从蛇的袭击下救出了隐鼠(《狗·猫·鼠》),也不必说从远房叔祖处借阅讲述园圃花木的《花镜》(《阿长与〈山海经〉》),单是归国后1910年任绍兴府中学堂生物学教员,除课堂讲授外,还曾带领学生到野外采集、制作植物标本,就足以证明先生对这门学科已有一定的造诣。
