1959年式9mm手枪仿自苏联马卡洛夫9mm手枪,于1959年定型,简称59式9mm手枪。59式9mm手枪采用自由枪机式工作原理,惯性闭锁方式,具有单动、双动发射功能,设有手动保险、不到位保险和自动保险。该枪全枪长161mm,枪管长93.5mm,瞄准基线长129mm,全枪质量0.73kg,4条右旋膛线,弹匣容弹量8发,发射59式9mm手枪弹(仿自苏联9×18mm手枪弹,也称为9mm马卡洛夫手枪弹),初速290～315m/s,有效射程50m。
