Coal preparation can be broadly defined as a careful adjustment of the nature of the coal to meet quality and transportation and management system requirements. It may include crushing, mixing, grading, physical beneficiation (demineralization from char / combustibles) and dehydration. From coal producer’s point of view, the purpose of coal preparation is to produce a stable, compliant, best-selling product that meets the needs of consumers. At the same time, however, the production targets and recovery rates must be met, as well as the optimization of investment and resource use.
