1985年10月1日—4日在意大利威尼斯召开的欧洲光通信会议上,报导了相干光通信系统的最新成果。美国贝尔研究所报导的系统速率为1Gb/s,传输距离为148km;日本NTT公司报导了速率为400Mb/s、传输距离为251km的相干光通信系统。这些系统都使用1.5μm的窄带激光器。这种激光器和84年英国电信研究所进行的速率为140Mb/s、传输距离199km的实验时使用的一样,是外腔型激光器。它是把LD的一面制成AR型涂膜,外部设计成可调谐的法布里-珀罗谐振
At the European Optical Communications Conference in Venice, Italy, from October 1 to 4, 1985, the latest achievements of coherent optical communications systems were reported. The American Bell Institute reported a system speed of 1Gb / s and a transmission distance of 148km. Japan’s NTT Company reported a coherent optical communication system with a transmission rate of 400Mb / s and a transmission distance of 251km. These systems all use a 1.5μm narrowband laser. This type of laser is the same as an experiment carried out by the British Telecommunications Institute in 1984 at a rate of 140 Mb / s and a transmission distance of 199 km.
