German medical experts say that the alcoholic nervous system is compromised and heart disease may be caused if excessive alcohol withdrawal. Belle, a professor of clinical medicine at the University of Jena in Germany, says that the autonomic nervous system in alcoholics is usually compromised, leaving them with a high risk of heart disease after alcohol abstinence.
