南朝乐府民歌《华山畿》组诗25首,是历来为人们称颂的南朝吴地情歌之杰作。其第一首反映南徐士子与华山女子的爱情悲剧,已成千古绝唱。其故事虽然神奇而近乎怪诞,但男女间所表现出来的竖毅执着、矢志不渝的至爱深情,则是惊天动地、震撼人心的。尤其是华山女子那种视爱胜命、以身殉情的大爱精神,则更是令人荡气回肠、振聋发聩。全诗谐音双关,自然成韵,句式参差,节奏明快,比喻夸张,语朴情真,多用方言,风味独特。其思想意义与艺术价值影响巨大而深远。
