Boston, USA: Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently used an experimental computerized ultrasound heating system to treat 36 patients with advanced cancer that were ineffective with other therapies. Six of these tumors have been completely eliminated and 50 of the other 20 patients have been treated. More than % of patients are effective after treatment and one has survived for 15 months. The above thermal system was founded by PadmakarP Lele, professor of experimental medicine. This system releases a heat, an appropriate amount of ultrasound; the released heat kills the tumor cells but does not damage the normal tissue. Lele explained the principle of thermal technology. He said that both hyperthermia and diagnostic ultrasound use high-frequency sound waves, but the latter uses low-intensity waves that cause the irradiated tissue to produce echoes, so that only micro-heats are generated and the tissue is not damaged. On the other hand, hyperthermia
