This article elaborates the sense of smell in the five senses in three aspects. The first part elaborates on the sense of smell as the origin of the second senses and the cognition of western historians. The second part, taking “Perfume: A Story of Murderer” as an example, illustrates the origins of some ideas that emphasize the sense of smell and perceive sense of smell higher than other senses. The last paragraph, through the above theoretical interpretation, analysis of the work, the insights gained. Although the sense of smell represents human animality, degenerating the sense of smell is just a kind of human progress, which requires the improvement of human aesthetic survival from animal predation.
