It is generally considered that during the filling process of long-distance large-scale pipelines and watermains, stagnant bubbles have a significant impact on the efficient water delivery and safe operation of the system. In order to evaluate the effect of stagnant bubbles on water conveyance capacity, sensitivity analysis is made on the factors that affect the water conveyance capacity of pipelines. Based on the principle of gas thermodynamics, geometric scale relations between prototypes and models are established. The impact of water capacity to provide a theoretical basis. According to the existing vent design of the culvert of the 4th Ring Road in the middle section of South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the model test results, the influence of stagnant bubbles in the prototype on the water transfer capability is analyzed. It is considered that in the case of existing vents, The impact on the pipe flow or water delivery capacity is less than 1.07% of the measured value in the model and can be neglected in the actual project operation.
