In order to meet the greater growth of aquatic products production in 1959, the Ministry of Aquatic Products held a national conference on the comprehensive utilization of aquatic products at the end of November 1958 in Beijing. Except for representatives from various production departments, the Institute of Marine Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Zoology Baiyangdian Station, Huanghai Institute of Fisheries, Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute, Shanghai Fisheries Institute, Shandong University Department of Fisheries and Nankai University Department of Biology and other units were represented at the meeting. The meeting summed up the results of production, experimental research and tool reforms all over the country.
