王祯,是我国古代著名的四大农学家之一,同汉代的汜胜之、后魏的贾思勰、明代的徐光启齐名。他所编著的《王祯农书》在中国农学史上占有极其重要的地位。他继承了前人在农学研究上所取得的成果,总结了元朝以前农业生产实践的丰富经验,全面系统地解释了广义农业生产所包括的内容和范围。《王祯农书》有四个突出特点:一是比较全面系统地论述了广义的农业;二是兼论南北农业;三是有比较完备的“农器图谱”;
Wang Zhen, one of the four famous agronomists in ancient China, shared the same name with the victories of Han Dynasty, Jia Sijie of the Later Wei Dynasty and Xu Guangqi of the Ming Dynasty. He edited “Wang Zhen” in the history of agronomy in China occupies an extremely important position. He inherited the achievements made by his predecessors in agronomy and summarized his rich experience in agricultural production before the Yuan Dynasty, which comprehensively and systematically explained the contents and scope of generalized agricultural production. There are four salient features of Wang Zhen’s Book: First, it discusses the generalized agriculture systematically, secondly the agriculture of both North and South, thirdly, the complete map of the farm.
