织金锦是元朝流行于王室贵族的高级纺织品,据文献记载,我国最早制造织金锦的是隋朝。新疆和阿富汗发现的公元1-2世纪的织金织物,证明了汉六朝有关织金锦的文献记载可信,大秦国公元2-4世纪是织金锦和织金罽的产地。织金锦的起源可能与公元前2世纪人们模仿王室贵族的随葬品金缕玉衣有关。
