印度海军计划在今年10月和11月与越南及韩国在南中国海分别举行双边军事演习后,将留下4至5艘战舰,再调派一艘俄制基洛级潜艇和一架侦察机加入,举行单方面军事演习。这次演习是要落实印国防部长费尔南德斯的新海军战略构想。费尔南德斯在4月14日为印度最新的战舰“布拉马普特拉”号主持下水典礼时扬言:
The Indian Navy plans to leave four to five warships with Vietnam and South Korea’s separate military exercises in the South China Sea in October and November this year and then dispatch one Russian-made Kilo-class submarine and one reconnaissance aircraft to join , Held unilateral military exercises.
