表达喜悦,你可以这样说
在汉语中,我们有非常丰富的词汇来表示人的喜悦。但在与外国人交流时有时会感到词汇贫乏,无法恰如其分地表达出自己的喜悦。
to be in a good mood, feel cheerful 心情喜悦
→I’m in a good mood today.
我今天心情很好。
→My birthday always makes me feel cheerful.
我的生日总是让我心情喜悦。
to be radiant with joy 喜形于色
→She was radiant with joy when she heard the good news.
她听到这个好消息时,真是喜形于色。
be pleased beyond description 喜不胜言
→I was pleased beyond description that I got this job.
得到这份工作让我喜不胜言。
eyes twinkle with delight 喜上眉梢
→His eyes twinkle with delight as he spoke of his new grandson.
他每当提起自己刚出生的孙子时,就会喜上眉梢。
light up with pleasure 喜笑颜开
→His face lit up with pleasure when she came in.
她进来的时候,他马上喜笑颜开。
be extremely delighted 欢天喜地
→We are extremely delighted at your success.
我们因为你的成功而欢天喜地。
be ecstatic 欣喜若狂
→We are ecstatic to be together again.
能重新相聚,我们真是欣喜若狂。
wear a happy expression,look cheerful 面带喜色,面带笑容
→He was wearing a happy expression even though he was really worried.
即使很担心,他也总是面带笑容。
→You look cheerful today.
你今天看上去很高兴。
be overjoyed 喜出望外
→Belinda was overjoyed to hear from you after so long.
过了这么久又听到你的消息,贝琳达喜出望外。
怎样才能“骂”出风度
中国人常用“骂人不带一个脏字”来形容那些很懂得骂人“艺术”的人。而英语中也有这样一些句子用于处于极度愤怒状态的人口头发泄的例子。
△Hey! Wise up!
放聪明点,好吗?
Tip:影视剧中,当别人做了愚蠢事时,一般会说“Don’t be stupid ”或“Don’t be silly”。但这是非常不礼貌的说法。客气一点的说法就是“Wise up”。
△Put up or shut up.
要么去做,要么闭嘴。
Tip:要注意的是,put up在字典中是查不到“自己去做”的意思的,只在口语表达时有这个意思。
△You eat with that mouth?
你是用这张嘴吃饭的吗?
Tip:别人对你说出不恭敬的话,你可以保持风度,这样回敬他,而不要骂回去。
△Don’t you dare! / How dare you!
你好大的胆子啊!
Tip:这句话可以在两种场合说,“Don’t you dare”用于是很严肃的场合,如小孩子很不听话时,父母就会说:“Don’t you dare!”而“How dare you”则可以在开玩笑的场合使用。
△Don’t push me around.
不要摆布我。
Tip:通常当我们讲这句话时,还可以联想到“bossy”一词,意为“像是老板一样喜欢指挥别人”,如说:“You are so bossy. I don’t like that.” 这句话也可以这样说:“Don’t push me.”
△Do you want to pick a fight?
你要挑起争端吗?
Tip:两个人一言不合吵起来时,如果你想停止争吵,就可以说这句。
