《贸易通志》是鸦片战争以前传教士所写中文读物中,介绍西方商业制度、贸易情况最为详尽的一本,学术界以往对此虽有述及,但无专门研究。本文逐章介绍了《贸易通志》的主要内容,论述了此书的叙述特点,将《海国图志》征引此书的内容与原文作了比较,说明魏源所引,都是节录与改写。《小方壶斋舆地丛钞》所收《贸易通志》内容,皆为《海国图志》摘录《贸易通志》的内容,编者王锡祺并未看到《贸易通志》原书。
“Trade Annals” is a book written in Chinese by missionaries before the Opium War to introduce the western commercial system and the most detailed trade situation. Although the academic circles mentioned this in the past, they did not make any special studies. This article introduces the main contents of “Trade Annals” chapter by chapter, expounds the narrative characteristics of this book, compares the contents of this book quoted by “Illustrated by the State of the Sea” with the original text, which shows that all the quotations and revisions . The content of “Trade Annals” contained in “Small Pot Jujudai Congrui” is the excerpt of “Trade Annals” from “Illustrated Overseas Map”. The editor Wang Xizhi did not read the original book of Trade Annals.
