[Objective] To find out the optimal extraction process for tannins in SANGUISORBAE RADIX. [Methods] Content of tannins and extract yielding rate of SANGUISORBAE RADIX were taken as evaluation indicators,Gallic acid was taken as reference solution. Medicinal material grain size, solvent consumption, permeability speed, seepage factor, and diameter-to-height ratio were optimized,to obtain optimal experimental conditions for extraction of tannins in SANGUISORBAE RADIX. [Results] After screening with no. 1 sieve, powder of SANGUISORBAE RADIX was put into percolation vat( the diameter-to-height ratio was 1∶ 1),6 times of 70% ethanol was added, finally obtained the optimal extraction process: 5 m L / min / kg,the average paste forming rate was 30. 5%,and extraction rate of tannins was 15. 5%.[Conclusions]This process is reasonable and feasible, highly reproducible. Using this process,it is able to obtain high extraction rate. Thus,it is expected to provide theoretical basis for preparing semi-finished products of tannins of SANGUISORBAE RADIX.
